Alumide finish

No matter which floor you choose by any manufacturer, a defining difference is the wood's protective finish. Only Tarkett offers Alumide, an advanced formulation of acrylic urethane that is enhanced with the addition of aluminum oxide granules. Invisible to the naked eye, these granules make Alumide more resistant to wear than other wood finishes.

Alumide's features

Composition

A UV curable stain colours and seals pre-finished wood in preparation for subsequent UV coatings. The stain contains a reactive polymer binder that provides adhesion to the wood and to the subsequent UV curable sealers and topcoat.

Layers of UV curable sealers comprised of acrylic UV curable resins and a proprietary UV curable polyurethane polymer are designed specifically for wood flooring. The resins are formulated with aluminum oxide to provide a ceramic/organic composite with ten times the abrasion resistance of a standard UV finish.

A UV curable topcoat, also formulated with a proprietary polyurethane polymer and an aluminum oxide ceramic, resists the fine scratches that lead to a visible traffic pattern on flooring, and provides gloss retention and resistance to household stains.

See the Product Warranty Reference Chart for the finish term that applies to each product.
